Bayelsa govt flags off inter-ministerial briefing, ministries, agencies roll out achievements of government in six years

The Bayelsa state Deputy governor, Gboribiogha John Jonah who represented the state governor Seriake Dickson has reiterated the importance the state government attaches to security of lives and properties, hence the Restoration government invested so much on security which is panacea to other infrastructure which are government responsibilities.
He stated while declaring open the inter ministerial press briefing that was organized by the state ministry of information and orientation to showcase the modest achievements of the restoration government for the past six years.
According to him when the state government took the mantle of leadership there were security challenges which prompted the setting up of an internal security outfit code named Operation Doo Akpo which is second to none in the country to compliment other security agencies to fight crime and criminalities which were some of the factors that militated against development and growth of the state that is in a hurry to fast track its infrastructural deficits and human sectors .
The state Commissioner for Information and Orientation Hon Daniel Iworiso- Markson while in his opening remarks said despite daunting challenges for six years the restoration government of Seriake Dickson has provided an uncommon leadership in Bayelsa state, but has achieved milestones which is hinged on the power of leadership and vision. According to him realizing the dire need of public infrastructure, the state government deployed resources and today the testament is overwhelming, stressing that In education it has been a total transformation with Bayelsa having the best public schools in the country The Health sector has also received greater attention with the building of the world class diagnostic center that has turned the state to a tourists centre, the specialist hospital and other legacy health institutions. “Clearly the state is on the right path especially with the new governance culture which emphasizes prudence, transparency and accountability.Indeed,the restoration government is moving towards finishing well and strong ” He posited that the Restoration government will best be remembered for quality service.
The inter ministerial briefing began with presentation by the commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Hon. Lawrence Ewhrudjakpor who disclosed that the Restoration Government under Governor Seriake Dickson initiated 104 projects , some completed and put to use while some are on going , adding that all of them were aimed at impacting on Bayelsans positively.
Among the plethora of projects were the Sagbama/Ekeremor road which for fourty years after it was conceptualized the 100 km road is now under construction courtesy of the restoration government.
According to him the distance of the road and bridges stretched over swamps and high water terrain,adding that previously people from these communities connect Yenagoa through Bomadi in Delta state but Governor Dickson made a historic drive to these communities on October 17th 2017 which afforded them chance to see a car for the first time in their lives.The state capital and some other communities have also benefitted from internal roads and dualization of major roads . He also listed Yenagoa – Oporma and Ogbia – Nembe Roads as some of the government landmark achievement.
All of these are aimed at enhancing the economic base of the state.
Hon Lawrence Ewhrudjakpor also disclosed that Bayelsa International Airport with 3.5 km runway has a capacity to receive big planes such as Boeing 747 and has been rated as a world class terminal , fire bay and hanger under construction at the Airport. He said the also has a fictional heliport that operates shuttle services for very important persons and personnel of multi national corporations coming to Yenagoa.
