Following the damning verdict on the President Muhammadu Buhari-led leadership by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Presidential candidate of the National Conscience Party (NCP), Martins Onovo, and National President, Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF), Yerima Shettima, said that Obasanjo’s observation was “nothing but the truth”.

The duo in their different reactions said that Obasanjo had spoken the minds of Nigerians given the pathetic state of the nation on poor economic management, insecurity, incompetence, ineptitude, corruption as well as dereliction of duty as observed by the former president.
Both Onovo and Shettima said that the country has not been as divided as it has become under the Buhari supervision, saying, “there are some fundamental problems that must be addressed because as at today we cannot deny there is a problem”.
For Onovo, “What OBJ noticed is an observation I have been pointing out before now and the attack dogs and propagandists would go haywire. It is good OBJ is repeating it now, I believe Nigerians will wake up from slumber because what we have is an ill-wind that will blow Nigeria to pieces.
“This government has failed in all fronts. It is very clear that the Buhari government is a catastrophic failure. It will take a miracle or decades of serious governance to correct this error.

“As at today, we have a public debt of not less than 20 trillion naira. Nigeria is debt trapped and sadly some sycophants are still deceiving our people but we know that they are paid to do what they are doing; so they want the status quo to remain.”

In his submission, Shettima said, “All is not well with Nigeria and something needs to be done. If you ask me, Obasanjo is on point on the issues he raised and has spoken the mind of Nigerians”.
Shettima said, “we should stop deceiving ourselves to believe that all is well.”
According to the activist, “There are critical problems to be addressed if we must forge ahead to build a united nation”.
