Against National Bureau of Statistic recent quarterly report that the economic recession in the country was over, the District Overseer of Four Square Gospel Church, Umuahia, Reverend Svlvanus Obhadi, has faulted the report.
He said that Nigerians were still feeling the pang of poverty and deprivation.
The cleric said that the report was not a true reflection of the situation on ground.
Obhadi described the report as another propaganda by an agency of government, which Nigerians have become used to hearing.
“The common man can not feed well; cost of food items including petroleum products is on the high side. Until the price of things come low, we cannot say that recession is over.
“How can you say that recession is over when the same people in government are still there and workers salaries and pension allowances have not been paid to workers in some states, yet they claim recession is over.”
He blamed the current recession in the country to past leaders whom he alleged mismanaged the National treasury.
“Our leaders mismanaged what God gave to us. He now used the recession to punish us. If Nigerians can respect God, recession will be over.
“God answers prayers when it is genuinely said, but when our leaders involve in things that are bad, how then can God then hear our prayers,” he said.
The Four Square District Overseer who used the forum to highlight the 5th Convocation of the Church with the theme, “Unlimited Harvest” which holds from September 8 to 10, 2017, said that the event was the gathering of the Church to praise God and share God abundant blessings.
On Federal Government slam on hate speeches, the man of God described it as a measure to silence the citizenry from saying what they have in mind.
“How can an entire geographical zone be marginalized and you want to silence them not to talk or fight for their right?”
