HP, Star Wars in ‘AwakenYourForce’ campaign

Device manufacturer, HP, has partnered with Star Wars, the American space opera franchise, centered on a film series created by George Lucas for greater experience for customers across the segment.

The campaign broke recently online and real time in Lagos at the Genesis Deluxe Cinema, Lekki where selected HP customers saw the private screening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens VII.

They experienced the new HP Star WarsTM Special Edition Notebook with customised Star Wars images and movies. The notebook comes with Aurebesh design, heavy backlit keyboard, and Storm trooper branding.

Other HP Notebooks showcased were the detachable Pavilion x2 and convertible Pavilion x360.

The new campaign, which is global, is being run in Nigeria and Kenya simultaneously for the African market and a consumer promotion is built into it to ensure customers get full value for money.

HP Marketing Manager (West, East, and North Africa), Tolulope Lawani, said “HP believes that technology can empower anyone from anywhere, and we are enabling those with passion and ingenuity to put their own mark on Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

“Consumers who purchase any HP Star Wars Special Edition, Pavilion x2 and Pavilion x360 from participating retailers gets rewarded instantly and are entered into a draw to win amazing prizes weekly.

“This campaign is to further support our drive to reach the young and mature millennial.”

To localise the campaign, HP partnered with artiste Ice Prince to engage with HP consumers in the Awaken Your Force Competition where fans with the most creative entries and most likes are entered to win HP devices.

Lawani said “with the support of our partners, Intel and Microsoft, our expectations are very simple: reach out to our audience, drive sales, and of course engage with our consumers beyond selling but giving them value.”
