Bayelsa State Commissioner for Local Government Administration, Agatha Goma, has urged the newly appointed Transition chairmen in the local governments to reside within their doman.
Goma, who gave the advice at the inuagural meeting with the chairmen from eight local government areas in the state, pointed out that their appointment was a call to service given the high public expectations.
She reminded the chairmen that it was the role of the ministry to supervise the activities of the councils to ensure that the policies of government on grassroots development were complied with.
She explained that the meeting was convened to make the chairmen to familiarise and understand the plans of the state government as it concerns the third tier of government.
Goma reiterated the charge given by Gov Seriake Dickson during their swearing in ceremony which emphasised financial prudence and compliance with financial and administrative guidelines.
“I wellcome you all and congratulate you for your appointment to drive the policies of the state government at the local government councils.
“Our role in the ministry is to supervise and ensure a smooth running of the local government system and I am happy to learn that you have since resumed work at your various council headquarters.
“I also wish to remind you of the need to ensure security of lives and property as directed by the state governor during your inuaguration,” Goma said.
