The governor, who described the strike as inhumane, pointed out that it would not benefit anyone, stressing that children had started loitering the street constituting nuisance instead of being in school.

He disclosed this to newsmen during the official kick-off of Zenith Principal Cup competition, which was revamped by the present administration after 26 years. He noted at the event held at St Patricks Colleg,e Asaba, that the state government had met with the education agency and the state NUT to resolve the issue despite short of allocation.

He admonished secondary school teachers to be patient in the request of their allowances for the state would pay as soon as the allocation improved and the primary school teachers with NULGE had understanding as regards the payment of their salaries.

He said that the state was on the plan to decongest the overpopulation ravaging schools in the urban cities across the state due to incessant increase of migrants from rural areas, adding that expansion of classroom blocks was ongoing in some towns like Asaba,Owa, Agbor, Ughelli, and other parts of the state and also measures had been put in place to control the menace of cultism in the state schools.

He pleaded with the parents to advice their wards on the harm cultism will cost their children while the police had been fortified to fight crime.
