Thugs attack Chipolopolo forward’s home after S’Eagles defeat

The Super Eagles’ 1-0 win over the Chipolopolo of Zambia, the result of which guaranteed a 2018 World Cup place for the three-time African kings, has continued to generate reactions, even beyond Nigeria.

In faraway Zambia, one of the forwards the Chipolopolo paraded against Nigeria suffered damage to his family house after a group of young men, who accused him of missing several scoring chances in the match that would have put them in good position to make maiden appearance at the World Cup, descended on the structure.

Striker, Alex N’gonga, saw his family home in Chimwemwe in the town of Kitwe damaged by the young men who allegedly alighted from a car.

Meanwhile, responding to the attack, Charity Katanga, Copperbelt province police commissioner, said a group of people emerged from a white Toyota Land Cruiser ACC 5492 and maliciously damaged two roofing sheets with stones.

The police officer said that the group had accused the forward of not converting the chances that came his way, leading to the national team’s dashed hopes of qualifying for the World Cup due to be staged in Russia next year.

She said police have launched a manhunt and a case of malicious damage to property has been opened.

And N’gonga’s mother Charity has told Muvi TV news that she feared for her life when she heard another person threaten to destroy the house completely.
