Yobe govt to rehabilitate Damaturu roads with N2.3b

Yobe State Executive Council has approved N2,388,036,960.80 for the construction, rehabilitation and overlaying of asphalt roads within the Damaturu Metropolis.

The state Commissioner, Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Aji Yerima Bularafa, disclosed to newsmen after the Executive Council Meeting in Damaturu.

He explained: “The contract awarded includes construction of 1.7 kilometer road and 3.4 kilometer drainages that would link Njiwaji (Sabon Pegi) off Kaloma Ali Street to Pompomari linking Ibrahim Gaidam Crescent at the total cost of N234,046,912.30 to be executed by the Ministry of Works and Transport. The State Executive Council further approved the overlay and reconstruction of four kilometer dualization from August 27 Stadium’s roundabout to NNPC Mega Station along Maiduguri road and dualization of another four kilometer road with drainage from Pilgrims Commission’s roundabout to abbatoir junction along Potiskum road at the cost of N794,264,463.40, respectively.

“Other projects approved by the Exco included the dualization of five roundabouts overlay of the 9.5 kilometer dual carriage way across the four main roads within Damaturu Metropolis at the cost of N1,359,725,585.16, which was awarded to EEC International Limited.”
