Actress, Iya Gbonkan begs fans for a car

Iya Gbonkan also said she wants to be celebrated while alive and not when dead, saying she wants to ride a car before her death

Veteran Nigerian actress, Margaret Bandele Olayinka better known as Iya Gbonkan has taken to social media to demand a car from her fans.

The 64-year-old who is famous in Yoruba movies for her fearful roles made this known in a recent video she shared online.

According to the actress, she has been in the movie industry for a while, but despite her age and work experience, she still treks and uses public transportation.

She further noted that she needed to be celebrated during her lifetime, and not when she is dead and will appreciate the gift of a car now more than a cow during her burial.

Taking to her Instagram page, she said: “I have been acting for decades yet I don’t have a car. I jump on buses every day. If I die now, you will kill a cow. Celebrate me now that I am alive. I need a car from my fans”

Iya Gbonkan went on to say she is grateful to still be alive, but urged Nigerians and her fans to buy her a car because she deserves it.

After her post made the rounds on social media, fans trooped to her comment section to air their views. 

An IG user, orekelewah wrote: “Is this to the general public or her family members?” 

Another internet user, hiebywhumey said: “Me wey dey watch your movie sef no get car! I still dey collect change from maruwa and okada drivers ” 

stoneheart60 added: “Make una buy mama car abeg oo me I no wan jam her inside public bus na to fly window go out” 

Another netizen, teni.harj said: “How can one react to this type of subtle threat like this? You people should help mama ooo.” 

While moyotheshawty wrote: “But like who will be driving her around if she gets the car? How about driver’s salary? How about car maintenance and fuel?”
