Actress, Mercy Aigbe embraces Islam

Aigbe, in a now-viral video on social media, was seen introducing herself with names that included her Muslim title

Controversial Nollywood Actress and movie producer, Mercy Aigbe, has disclosed she has left the Christian faith and converted to Islam. 

Aigbe and her husband, Kazeem Adeoti better known as Adekaz hosted friends, colleagues, and family to a Ramadan lecture over the weekend.

Following the successful event, the thespian during an interview confirmed she is leaving Christianity for Islam.

She was subsequently seen introducing herself with names that included a Muslim title in a now-viral video which later made the rounds on social media.

In the clip, where she was seen tying a Muslim headgear, the actress urged Nigerians, other netizens and her fans, to stop addressing her by old names, adding that they should henceforth call her Hajia Meenah Mercy Adeoti.

In her words: “Insha Allah, My new name is Hajia Meenah Mercy Adeoti. Meenah with the H. I’m so so so excited. I feel fulfilled actually.

“This is actually my first Ramadan lecture and then Ramadan is one of the pillars of Islam. It’s like gathering people and letting them be aware of what Allah says, so that we can follow the rules that Allah has set. 

“So I’m so happy that people that we called came here,” 

Aigbe married popular movie marketer, Adekaz in 2022 in very controversial circumstances and was later accused of having an extramarital affair while still married by her ex-husband, Lanre Gentry and her new husband’s first wife. 

Mercy, however, denied the allegations, saying they started as friends and only became lovers after she left her ex-husband.  

She also took exceptions to be called names and lied against, despite explaining her situation and telling her side of the story.
