APC BoT member defects to Labour Party, says Villa needs Obi’s integrity

All Progressives Congress (APC) Board of Trustees (BoT) member, Benjamin Apugo, has defected to the Labour Party (LP) and sought support for Peter Obi, pitching his integrity, competence, and track record put him above other runners for the Villa.
Apugo made the declaration at his Ibeku Umuahia country home in Abia, where he also canvassed votes for LP governorship candidate Alex Otti who he said has the capital to rebuild the state.
He dismissed as misleading media reports he endorsed APC governorship candidate Ikechi Emenike, saying he never did, and cautioned against using his name for political advantage.
He accused the APC federal government of neglecting the state, insisting “APC has not done anything for Umuahia and Abia State where I come from.”
Apugo also argued the APC has not done much for Ndigbo and urged voters to vote based on the competence and integrity of candidates and not for the party logo.
He took a swipe at the Igbo political elite making uncomplimentary remarks about Obi, describing them as myopic and self-centred saboteurs.

Rallying round Obi
Apugo urged Igbo voters not to be discouraged because of the unpatriotic activities of such elements who he said could rarely visit their communities, per Vanguard.
In his view, Obi’s Aso Rock run has bestowed respect and honour on the Igbo race, noting that this is the first time Nigerians of different ethnic, religious, and political hues have rallied behind a presidential candidate from the South East.
Apugo urged Ndigbo at home and abroad to come out en mass and vote for credible candidates of their choice in the elections in February and March.
He said those hoping to rig the ballot would have to think of something else as the era of manipulating election results is over.
He expressed optimism the elections would give birth to a new Nigeria where merit and competence count.
