APC says national vice chairman suspended, not expelled

-

The All Progressive Congress (APC) says the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Party ratified the suspension of Inuwa Abdulkadir, and not expulsion as the NWC does not have such powers.

In an earlier statement, Lanre Issa-Onilu, the APC national spokesman said: “The NWC of the APC has upheld the disciplinary actions of Magajin Gari “A” Ward, Sokoto North Local Government, and the Party’s Sokoto State Executive Committee on the Party’s National Vice Chairman (North West), Inuwa Abdulkadir over anti-party activities.”

“The party organs in Sokoto State have earlier expelled Abdulkadir and passed on their recommendation to the NWC for ratification.

“The decision to uphold the actions of the Sokoto APC organs was taken at a meeting of the NWC held at the Party’s National Secretariat on Thursday.

“Abdulkadir failed to utilise the opportunity to defend himself before the disciplinary committee set up by the NWC to look into the various petitions received against certain members of our party.”

In another statement also on Thursday, Issa-Onilu said: “Some media organisations are reporting the National Working Committee ‘expulsion’ of the Party’s National Vice Chairman (North West), Inuwa Abdulkadir.”

“Our earlier statement states suspension.”

“The NWC does not have the power to expel one of its members. That is why Abdulkadir has been referred to the National Executive Committee (NEC) for further actions.

“NEC can decide to recommend to the National Convention for final ratification or decide otherwise,” he reiterates.
