Tinubu overruns Amaechi, Osinbajo, others in APC presidential primary

Tinubu came top in the highly contested APC presidential primary by sweeping more than half of the delegate votes.

Former Lagos State Governor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has emerged the candidate of the All Progressives Congress  (APC), polling 1271 votes to defeat his closest challenger, former Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi who polled 316 votes.  

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo came third in the presidential primary, even though by many estimates he gave the best speech at the APC presidential primary. He polled a total of 235 votes.

 Senate Presidrnt Ahmed Lawan who was initially announced as the consensus candidate by national chairman of the party, came fourth in the contest with 152 votes.

The aspirant that came fifth in the APC presidential primary is Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello who scored 47 votes. 

Ebonyi State Governor, Engineer Dave Umahi garnered 38 votes.

Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade, polled 37 votes. 

Former Zamfara State Governor, Ahmed Sani, got four votes. 

Former Minister of State for education, Emeka Nwajiuba, who boycotted the presidential primary over refusal of the party to agree on a consensus candidate, received one vote. 

Former Governor of Imo State and a serving Senator, Rochas Okorocha, received no vote. 

It was the same fate for Pastor Tunde Bakare who gave a rousing speech but ended up with no vote. 

A businessman, Jack Rich, also got zero vote despite puting up a strong campaign on television and other media outlets. 

Former Minister of Science and Technology, scored one vote.

An aspirant that talked more about President Muhammadu Buhari than himself, Chike Oba Mokelu, received no vote from the delegates.
