British High Commissioner demands justice for murdered Deborah Samuel

The High Commissioner said: “I condemn the murder of Deborah Samuel in Sokoto, and urge the police and relevant authorities to ensure the perpetrators of this horrific act are made to face justice in line with the law.”

The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Catriona Laing, has condemned the Killers of Sokoto College pf Education female student, Deborah Samuel.

Recall that Deborah Samuel was attacked by a Muslim mob over an allegation that she insulted their Holy prophet.

The video of the mob attack on Deborah Samuel caused anguish because of the manner she was killed. The mob stoned and beat her with sticks while filming the action. They also boasted about killing the 200-level student of Home Economics at the Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto State.

In a tweet on Friday, Catriona Laing said the authorities must ensure that the perpetrators of the act are brought to justice.

She said: “I condemn the murder of Deborah Samuel in Sokoto, and urge the police and relevant authorities to ensure the perpetrators of this horrific act are made to face justice in line with the law.”

Sokoto police command said two suspects have been arrested over their alleged involvement in the killing of the female student.

A number of Nigerians have condemned the dastardly act, including the Sultan of Sokoto, Abubakar Sa’ad and the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Most Reverend Mathew Hassan Kukah.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar initially condemned the barbaric act, but later deleted the statement on all his social media handles after threats by a Muslim mob that he would lose the 2023 presidential election for condemning the murder.
