Funke also said she has passed the baton of acting and movie production to the young ones because she has now moved into politics

Popular actress, movie producer and politician, Funke Akindele has said she will be quitting the acting stage for the younger ones after the release of her new movie ‘Battle on Buka Street’.
The Peoples Democratic Party’s deputy gubernatorial aspirant in Lagos State, made this known during a recent interview with PUNCH, where she spoke on her latest movie, which she described as a farewell project as she joins politics.
According to Funke Akindele, the movie is about the hustle and bustle in the family, the ups and downs, and the fictions, saying all she is trying to do in the movie is to celebrate Africa’s culture and food.

In her words: “A great change has happened positively if you noticed. From being an actor, I also write, produce, direct and discover new faces. So, I have passed the baton of production to the young people because I have moved into politics now.
“So, ‘Battle on Buka Street’ is like a farewell because I am going to be the next deputy governor of Lagos State. So, I am passing the baton to the new ones because we need to give them an opportunity.
“Yes, I will be in the background to advise and supervise them, but let them be the face, let us celebrate them, are you not tired of seeing old faces?”
When asked what are the hard lessons she has learnt since joining politics she said:
“Nothing good comes easy; my mum has always told me that you have to work hard, pray harder and you learn patience to get to the top.
“So, moving into politics, yes there are a lot of backlashes, a lot of no, but don’t forget, I got a lot of no before I got here today. Everybody can’t support you, and if they do so, that means you are not doing something good. So, you must get people to criticise you constructively; you pick the constructive ones and be better with it.
“I have learnt to be better, calmer, more dedicated and not to give up.”
