“The decision of Obi to join the Labour Party is an opportunity for great politicians across the country like Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, Mr. Alex Otti, and others to join forces with him and wrestle Nigeria from the hands of political jobbers.”

A group, South-East and South-South Network (SESSNet) has called on Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, immediate past Senate Minority Leader, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, former Senate Deputy President, and all other politicians from the South-East and the Niger Delta to join the former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, in his new political party.

Obi announced on Friday that he has joined the Labour Party after dumping the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday.

Obi, who was frustrated from the PDP, said he will now pursue his presidential aspiration on the platform of Labour Party.

In a statement issued soon after Obi announced his new political party, SESSNET said the call had become necessary in order to jointly wrestle Nigeria generally and the former eastern region in particular from the hands of political merchants.

The group also called on all politicians from the South-East and South-South to abandon the PDP and join Labour Party.

The statement signed by the SESSNET spokesman, Mr. Obi Osuji, noted Obi’s presidential aspiration has turned into a movement that will salvage Nigeria.

The group, therefore, urged all Nigerians of goodwill to abandon both the PDP and APC and join Peter Obi in order to satisfy the yearnings of all Nigerians for peace, security, and economic advancement.

The statement said, “The decision of former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, to join the Labour Party is an opportunity for great politicians across the country like Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, Mr Alex Otti, and others to join forces with him and wrestle Nigeria from the hands of political jobbers.

“The new party will give an opportunity for Nigerians of like minds to achieve their dreams.

“The defection of Peter Obi from PDP is an opportunity to build a third force, a political party that Nigerians have been yearning for.

“It is certain that the Labour Party will be able to deliver dividends of democracy to millions of Nigerians.”
