Not less than 3,075 persons are displaced from their homes in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State within the last three months due to incessant banditry attacks on the communities.

The Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) made of men, women, youths and children registered by the state government are currently camped in two separate locations.

While, the state camped some at the Dr. Idris Ibrahim Primary School, Kuta in Shiroro council, the other persons camped at the Bosso Primary School, a suburb of Minna, the state capital.

At the Dr. Idris Ibrahim Primary School, the Director Social Development Shiroro Local Government Area, Musa Abdullahi Kuta, said so far the camp houses a total of one thousand one hundred and thirty three registered persons.

“In the last two days, over 200 IDPs have been registered due to increasing number of attacks on daily basis. Many people were killed, many were abducted for ransom.”

Checks by our Correspondent revealed inadequate toilet facilities and non-adherence to the social distancing order of the state government to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.

At the Bosso camp, most of the IDPs, who were interviewed called on the state to provide  more toilets facility and security personnel to bring an end the attacks in their villages to enable them return to their homes.
