Nollywood actor, Sam Obiagu passes on

Another Nollywood actor, filmmaker and the chairman of Screen Writers Guild of Nigeria (SWGN), Sam Obiagu is dead.

Daddy Sam as he was fondly called passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2021

This was disclosed by some of his colleagues who took to social media to express their shock.

According to one of the colleagues, “He has been ill for a while now. So yesterday he started feeling very illl and he was rushed to the hospital at midnight. He gave up in the early hours of today.”

The news about his demise was shared by the Nollywood actress, Destiny Etiko who took to her Instagram page to share a photo of the Nollywood star alongside a caption that depicts sorrow and mourning.

Sharing his photo, Destiny Etiko wrote:

“Nooooooooooo daddy Sam 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔💔😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭”

The death of the actor was also confirmed by the president of the Actors Guild of Nigeria AGN, Emeka Rollas.

Rollas took to his Instagram page on Thursday, December 23, 2021, where he announced the sad news.


“Another Sad Day 😭😭😭😭😭😭 RIP Daddy Sam,” he wrote.

The actor has featured in lots of Nollywood movies. Sam Obiagu hails from Asaba, Delta State in the south southern part of Nigeria. Unfortunately, he has joined the list of actors who gave up the ghost in 2021.

Until his death, Obiagu was a Nigerian-born Nollywood actor, filmmaker, TV personality and movie producer who has featured in over 100 Nollywood movies.
