Religion shouldn’t define Tinubu’s presidential quest, says Abayomi

Abayomi says: “”Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu a Muslim, he got married to a Christian woman, Senator (Mrs) Oluremi Tinubu and they have both lived together for more than 40 years without any wahala and they are blessed with children. They represent the best of Nigeria’s religious tolerance.”

Human Rights Activist and Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council for Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Dr. Tunji Abayomi, has cautioned Nigerians that religion should not be a determinant for choosing the nation President in the 2023 general election.

According to him, what should be the concern of Nigerians is that the country should have good leaders, leaders who can address the major issues that affect their lives, and who can make Nigeria a better and safer place for all.

Abayomi in a statement said, “What is wrong with Muslim-Muslim ticket? I don’t see anything wrong. Does religion necessarily make our leaders good men and women? Absolutely not.

“Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu a Muslim, he got married to a Christian woman, Senator (Mrs) Oluremi Tinubu and they have both lived together for more than 40 years without any wahala and they are blessed with children. They represent the best of Nigeria’s religious tolerance.

“Tinubu brought up Vice president Yemi Osinbajo and speaker, Leke Pitan, Dele Alake, Kayode Fayemi, Adams Oshiomhole, Joe Igbokwe, Governor Fayemi, Desmond Elliot, Ambode, governor Sanwo Olu, and all of them are  Christians.”
