Tuchel faces dilemma over goalkeeper to pick for Carabao final

Kepa kept in most cup competitions under Tuchel  this season, while Mendy remained his first choice goalkeeper after dethroning the Spaniard

Spanish goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga, is hoping to be in the post in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Liverpool, having started all the games leading to the finals for The Blues.

According to the UK Sun. Chelseas’ gaffer,  Thomas Tuchel is facing a tough call on who to field in Sunday’s crucial encounter against The Reds

Kepa Arrizabalaga is facing competition from Edouard Mendy for Sunday’s game at Wembley, despite keeping in every round of Chelsea’s route to Wembley in the EFL Cup.

The Spaniard feels Tuchel ‘owes’ him after benching him for their Club World Cup final win over Palmeiras earlier this month having kept in the semi-final. 

He was dropped for the final and replaced with Mendy who just returned from the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon as the winner of the tournament.

Tuchel believes Mendy is the first choice,  because of his outstanding performances in the Premier League and the Champions League this season and having been named as FIFA’s best goalkeeper for last season. 

The decision of the 48-year-old Chelsea coach on Sunday may be pivotal in Arrizabalaga’s decision to push for the exit in the summer or stay to fight and reclaim his shirt
