The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has reacted to the cheeky statement by Bowen University, after the institution advised popular Nigerian singer, Divine Ikubor a.k.a Rema, to dump the AKoka campus for the Iwo based citadel of learning.

Rema had earlier appealed to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to end their industrial action, because it has prevented him from attending classes, after gaining admission into UNILAG.

Bowen University thereafter wooed the 21-year-old rapper to switch to their institution and assured him that his academic pursuit will not be interrupted by ASUU strikes.

Reacting to the development through its official handle, UNILAG appealed to Rema not to change his mind, because they had already chosen him.

Taking a cue from one of Rema’s song, UNILAG tweeted, “Hmm… Rema dear, UNILAG has chosen you o. Hmm… so don’t let anybody come dey change your mind o. Rema no dey vex for us o.”

In his response, Rema, who was excited, told the institution to end the strike so he could resume academic activities, as he might be forced to consider Bowen’s offer.

He said, “Awww UNILAG, end the strike, or I will go ooo. we want to go back to school. Please, the youths are not happy!”

Using lyrics from Rema’s hit song ‘Calm Down’, UNILAG gave a hilarious response, “Rema, calm down.”

Bowen University once again joined the conversation after Rema’s response and shaded UNILAG by urging the singer to choose a school that will make him happy and has value for his time.

“Every Nigerian youth deserves true happiness and most importantly, value for their time. Choose value and happiness today, don’t let them tell you otherwise. You are loved.” Bowen tweeted.
