Utomi, others launch funding for Peter Obi

FUND40MB aims to generate and mobilise sufficient funds for grassroots recruitment and mobilisation of 40 million youths and women for Obi.

A non-governmental organisation, 40Million Ballots Movement, has launched a political donor-fundraising campaign FUND40MB for Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

The FUND40MB is a PAC-driven global fundraising initiative anchored by the 40Million Ballots Movement (40MB).

FUND40MB aims to generate and mobilise sufficient funds for grassroots recruitment and mobilisation of 40 million youths and women for Obi.

While conducting the public unveiling of FUND40MB, Prof Pat Utomi affirmed the desire to create a new Nigeria which will work for every citizen.

Utomi, who is the founder, Centre for Values in Leadership, said the old political order cannot be replaced unless money politics is first eradicated when citizens directly take the responsibility of financing elections and democratic processes.

Comrade Kennedy Iyere, who is the convener of the 40Million Ballots Movement and the Chief Fundraiser of FUND40MB, said the measure was created long before Peter Obi ever thought of contesting for the presidency.

“As it stands today, Peter Obi is the Chief Beneficiary of the pro-Igbo presidential power-shift activism anchored by the 40Million Ballots Movement. Hence the reason he has been adopted as our consensus candidate,” he said.

Chief spokesperson for Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Organisation, Dr Tanko Yunusa, applauded Comrade Kennedy Iyere and the 40Million Ballots Movement for launching the FUND40MB Global Fundraising Campaign.
