Emmanuel Petit, who looked beyond his country and the defending champions, France, said he would be putting his money on Brazil to win the World Cup this year because they are very strong in all the departments of the game.

Brazil national team

The former French international made the assertion, while talking to Compare Bet, where he also suggested that another South American nation, Argentina are strong contender and can win the tournament if Brazil fail to lift the cup.

Petit said, “Brazil, because they look very strong in every department. They’ve so many players who are among the best in their positions, an experienced group as well.

“The statistics as well are frightening. I can’t remember the last time they lost a game. It Is the last chance for Neymar to win the World Cup. It’s been 20 years now since a South American team won the World Cup.

“Argentina are up there too with Brazil to win it. But I would put my money on Brazil. They look really strong.”

While defending champions, France, won their first game at the Mundial 4-1 against Australia on Tuesday night, Argentina suffered a 1-2 shock defeat in the hands of less fancied, Saudi Arabia.

The tournament favourite, Brazil, on the other hand, are yet to play a match in Qatar, they are, however, expected to kick off their camping on Thursday, November 24, against European opposition, Serbia.
